A Gem of a car!
by craftygal2 on Thursday, September 22, 2011
I bought my car brand new in 2005. It is the end of 2011 and I have yet to do anything but put new brakes and new tires on it. Has never given me a problem! I think it is the best looking out of the small SUV line (i.e. escape, crv, liberty, tribute, etc.) - 5.0
indeed

Average 27.7 MPG in mostly highway driving, city is much better. Wish list would be an electronic climate control, HID headlamps, LED taillamps, Steering wheel mounted audio controls, and 120v in dash electrical outlet. Heated seat controls are mounted on the side of the seats, and this is a very bad location. While sitting in the seat, you cannot see the indicator light if seat heater is on or off.. should also have a selectable temp control for seat heaters as well. The two major complaints I have are the seat heater switch locations, and the lack of electronic climate controls. - 5.0
Impressed with it's reliablity
by freebyrdTx on Tuesday, June 30, 2020
I bought this SUV new off the lot 15 years ago, I have only had to replace the battery 2x, starter once, and alternator once. I have replaced all 4 tires recently for the 1st time. I had to replace the rotors and brake pads, but nothing that was a major repair. I did all of the regular maintenance, this kept it in excellent running condition. I have traveled across country more than once and was never left stranded, my 05 Mercury Mariner has been exceptionally reliable. The seats are a bit hard, I would have liked them to be more comfortable, it rides like a truck.
